I have tired many granola recipes in my lifetime and this one is hands down the very best. It is very simple, doesn’t take long to make, and is delicious! This recipe comes from my friend, Patty-thank you!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Heat gently on low to medium heat:
- 1 1/2 cups oil (I use Olive Oil)
- 1 1/2 cups Honey
- 1 teaspoon maple (optional)
This takes about 10 minutes. Watch for the color change and you’ll know it’s ready.
Meanwhile, stir together in a large bowl:
- 10 cups rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 Tablespoon Salt (optional)
- 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
Add oil/honey mixture to dry mixture. Stir well. Place onto two large cookie sheets-be sure they have sides. Bake each sheet for 10 minutes then stir; 5 minutes stir; 5 minutes more and remove.
You’ll know that it is down because the color changes (see the pictures), and the texture becomes almost crisp.
Put the cooked granola into a large bowl; add raisins, nuts, dates, and anything else you’d like to add. Once cooled put in airtight container.
This makes a HUGE batch, I like to free about half of it until I’m finished with the first half.
As you can see, this time around I added cranberries and almonds. I like to eat the granola with yogurt, like cereal and add a little milk in a bowl, eat it plain, or add it to ice cream for a little treat!
