Homemade Syrup

We love to eat lots of breakfast items at our house, so we go through a lot of syrup. By making our own syrup we save a lot of money.  Here’s what I do.
THIN SYRUP-1 cup water for every cup of sugar. I like to do this-it stretches the budget and lessens the amount of sugar! You can use Splenda instead of sugar if you like.
THICK SYRUP-1 cup water for every 2 cups sugar.  You can also add Karo Syrup if you like.
Boil the sugar and water in a pan-the longer you boil it the thicker it will be. Don’t boil more than 5 to 8 mintues or it will get really thick once it’s cooled. Once the sugar and water has come to a boil add the maple to the taste that you like.
Maple can be quite expensive at a grocery store or even Walmart (around $4.00 for a tiny bottle). My mom bought the 1 quart bottle of maple you see in the picture above for $7.00 at a discount food supply store in Utah (thanks MOM)! I haven’t found a place in the Memphis area yet where Maple is sold in bulk. If anyone knows of a place please share!
