Creamy Mushroom Shepherd’s Pie

1 pound ground beef

1/4 cup chopped onion (optional)
1 can mushroom pieces 4 ounces drained (optional)
1 can green beans
1 can cream of mushroom soup
4 cups mashed potatoes

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown beef with onion and drain. Stir in mushrooms, green beans, and soup. Spread mixture in greased square pan. Spoon potatoes evenly over the top and sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered 20 to 25 minutes or until the edges are bubbling. Makes 4 servings.
