The blueberries area ready much earlier than expected because of the heat-details here. The Nesbit Blueberry Farm will be opening June 9th at 6 a.m. for picking! These berries are so good and very inexpensive! We stock up every June by freezing and canning the berries so we can eat fresh blueberries year round.
They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 6 am – 7 pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. The farm is located just past Southaven on I-55. Get the full directions here and call ahead just to make sure they haven’t closed 662-429-3778.
It’s hot when picking, mornings are best. They do have some water available but I would suggest bringing your own. Wear sunscreen and wash your hands before you pick our you’ll ruin the berries. This farm is very kid friendly-we take ours every year. You can eat as you pick! The farm provides you with the gallon buckets to pick with. Last year we talked to the daughter of the owner and asked him if they were organic. She said they are but they haven’t certified them as organic because the process and paperwork it takes is a big headache. The earlier you pick the bigger, better tasting berry you get. Happy Picking!
