I grew up in an ice cream- loving family. Making homemade ice cream is a special treat. This year for our family reunion we made 3 gallons of homemade ice cream – Yum!
Currently my favorite kind of homemade ice cream is cookies & cream. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pint heavy whipping cream
about 1/2 gallon whole milk
1 package Oreo Cookies (or generic brand)
Directions:
Beat eggs until foamy. Beat in sugar 1/2 cup at a time. Mix in vanilla, salt, and cream. Pour mixture into ice cream maker canister.
Crumble Oreo cookies. I dumb them all back in the Oreo bag (removing the plastic holder) and break them up with my hands.
Pour crumbled cookies in with cream mixture. Fill canister with whole milk to the fill line.
Place canister in machine and turn it on. Add ice and rock salt around the canister. Run until ice cream is desired consistency.

Enjoy!
