New Kroger Coupon Policy

by Natasha on October 13, 2011

Such a sad day for me as my shopping at Kroger is going to change a lot with the new Coupon Policy.

The biggest changes are there is now a limit of five like paper (not printed) coupons per transaction. If you have more than five of the same coupon you can do a second transaction to use all your coupons.

The kicker for me is two internet coupons per manufacturer per customer per day! As 75% of my coupons are internet coupons, I am going to have to make more stops at Kroger to use them all. Or if they are above 60 cents I’ll go to Walmart and price match.

This was posted at the customer service desk at my store and from what I was told is valid at Kroger stores nationwide (excluding the double coupons in some areas).

What do you think of the new changes?

I have not been happy with all recent coupon policy changes and am becoming more and more frustrated because of them. I have all but stopped shopping at Kroger for this reason. Since Kroger has bought out Schuncks in our area I don’t have many options.

I shopped at the Oxford, MS kroger today, and was given a copy of this. They had written on it though that no split transactions were allowed. I am a little confused about this part two internet coupons per manufacturer per customer per day! Does this mean if I have 6 internet lets say lucky charms coupons, I can only use two in one day. There system seemed to kick out a few more coupons today then usual, but I still used more then two of the same coupons in one transaction. I used 4 lucky charms coupons today. I also had several for fiber one and nature valley products, but I bought different flavors. Any light you can shed on the would be appreciated.

Danielle,

The wording certainly says to me you can only use two lucky charms printables per day regardless of the coupon amount. I haven’t tried this though, my guess is that different stores/cashiers will tell you different things.

I didn’t use any more than two today, I wanted to get in and out quickly. I’ll be posting more about this as I learn more.

Yeah, it is a little confusing. I was not aware of this policy when I checked out. I was given a copy of it after I checked out. Then when I looked at it, I didn’t know if I was reading it right or not, since I was able to use 4 like coupons and buy 4 of the same items.

I think Kroger created their own problems by participating in the Extreme couponing show and grossly breaking every couponing rule they ever created. You could tell it was Kroger and they threw out the rule book for the sake of publicity. I was unhappy with them when they did it and now their loyal customers who follow the rules will pay the price. We are really going to feel the lack of competition in the Memphis area.

I personally feel the Extreme couponing show ruined couponing for those trying to really save money in a non-extreme way. Since the show aired many stores have had to release and/or change their policies to stop the extreme from happening while doing so has hurt the people (loyal customers) who need it the most.

I totally agree, that the show has hurt people like us, who are not wanting a 20 year supply of toothpaste. We are just trying to provide for our families.

I agree people like me as a stay home mom have no choice but to coupon if we want nice home cooked meals. I think it is very selfish of the extreme couponers to ruin it for the honest old and new couponers. You would think the stores would get it together with a universal coupon policy to cut out all the confusion for everyone involed. If the rules was set in stone for everyone it would be much easier for stores to redeem all coupons used at thier store’s. Sorry for the rant but everyone knows that stores get thier money plus a handling fee for each coupon used. It to me just seems like a simple non complicated fix to me. Maybe I’m wrong but I think Only until that time comes we will all pay the price.

Has anyone tried to go to a different Kroger on the same day to use more of their printed Q’s? I was wondering if it was tracked by ur Kroger card b4 I tried tommorrow with the Bugles.

Thanks!

I went to my store twice yesterday using some of the same paper coupons and was not told I couldn’t use them. I haven’t tried internet coupons twice in the same day yet.

Is this the Kroger Coupon Policy for the entire state of Mississippi? I live in Olive Branch and am new into the “couponing” thing. Thanks!!

This policy is for the Memphis area although most Kroger’s in the South and East have the same policy.

Your plus card doesnt “track” coupon usage. Im a cashier at kroger and will scan any coupon you hand over (to a resonable extent) and have for 5+ years. I dont know why some cashiers are so freakishly strict about it. The system doesnt know and we get rembersed anyway. We never worried about doubles until the extreme coup show and I agree that it ruined it for the normal coupon joes. I hate that some employees will undouble the coup if you have more than two of the same coupon. I love ringing coupons up for people and never understood why other cashiers dont. Avoid the lady that has worked there for 30yrs and is miserable and wanting to take it out on random customers..lol

I agree that some cashier are looking for authority and to say “no” to couponers. I have a select few cashiers that I try to shop because I know they will not give me a hassle.
